Interview with Jacob Frenkel


Abstract: He could have stayed at the University of Chicago and continued his productive career within the halls of American academe, as colleagues encouraged him to do. But in 1987 Jacob Frenkel, 44 years old, took the job as chief economist at the International Monetary Fund (I.M.F.) in Washington where he was credited with reviving the I.M.F.'s research department.
