Solving Veteran Homelessness as One in California
Abstract: Los Angeles has the highest number of homeless veterans in the country. In this article, staff members from New Directions for Veterans describe their partnership with a local housing developer to provide more affordable housing units for veterans in connection with supportive services. The article also discusses policy and service provision innovations in California to help mitigate veteran homelessness and fund targeted housing developments, particularly for those veterans with the greatest housing challenges who do not qualify for traditional veteran housing programs.
